Can an ordinary shampoo regrow healthier hair? This is one of the most common questions asked by thousands of people. Well, if truth be told, the answer is no.

However, what an ordinary shampoo can do is to maintain the health and radiance of the hair. It can also improve the quality of your tresses, giving you a shinier and healthier mane.

An ordinary shampoo can even help prevent the onset of grey hairs, dandruff, split-ends, and lice infestation. However, not just any shampoo will do. It is always best to use organic do-it-yourself (DIY) shampoo recipes made from essential oils and fruits, which are taken from various herbs.

These home-made organic shampoo recipes are easy to do and all of them contain ingredients found on your kitchen cupboard or backyard garden.

Depending on your hair type, you need to create a DIY organic hair care shampoo which will help you in your quest for shinier and healthier mane.

Here are three of the best DIY shampoo recipes that you can try to create at the comfort and convenience of home.

Recipe 1: A mixture of aloe vera and avocado for dry hair type.

  • Ingredients:  ¼ cup of glycerin; ¼ cup of liquid Castile soap; 1 teaspoon of avocado oil; and 1 teaspoon of aloe vera gel.
  • Preparation: In a bowl, mix the ¼ cup of glycerin with the ¼ cup of liquid Castile soap. Next, extract 1 teaspoon of gel from a fresh aloe vera leaf. Then, add it with the blended Castile and glycerine.  Then, pour 1 teaspoon of avocado oil. Thoroughly mix the ingredients and keep it in a shampoo bottle. You can use this hair care recipe as your daily shampoo to prevent the hair strands from getting dry, frizzy, and coarse.

Recipe2: A blend of jojoba and Castile for normal hair type.

  • Ingredients: 1/4 cup of liquid castile soap; 1/4 cup of distilled water; and 1/2 teaspoon of jojoba oil.
  • Preparation: Thoroughly mix all the ingredients together. After creating the blend, you can use this as your day-to-day hair care shampoo.

Recipe 3: A concoction made from rosemary, sage, and stinging nettle for oily hair type.

  • Ingredients: 1/2 ounce of rosemary; 1/2 ounce of sage; 1/2 ounce of stinging nettles; and 4 oz of Castile soap.
  • Preparation: In a bowl, add all the ingredients together. Next, mix it thoroughly until you have created a paste. Then, store it in a bottle and use it like your regular shampoo.

Note: When using a do-it-yourself hair care shampoo, there is one thing that you must know and that is— home-made shampoos do not lather up as much as the commercialized ones since there are no foaming agents added as ingredients.
